hi all. all of a sudden my 896HD has stopped working. ALL led's on the front of the unit keep flashing on and off with it powered up. The Mac audio/MIDI setup does not see the unit. The only 'different' thing I did today was uninstall and then reinstall Clockworks (chasing down a MidiExpress XT problem).
I downloaded (again) and installed the latest firewire drivers off the MOTU site. Still nothing.
help?

Same problem...did you found a solution yet?

Hi,
I had exactly the same problem with the 896HD on a Macbook.
Did you find a solution? I tried the unit on a Windows XP os and also Windows didn't see the Motu device.
Very unpleasant...is it broke or is it a software thing?
Who helps me/us out?

Sounds like it might be a FireWire problem.
I've seen several of the MOTU interfaces exhibit the continuous flashing LEDs when they can't connect via FireWire. Try a different cable, different port on the computer, on the interface, and even hooking the 896 up to a different computer. Good luck!

Hi guys-
Had a similar problem with the 896HD. Check to make sure the correct selection is made in Audio MIDI Setup/Audio Devices/Audio Output Drop-down (and/or Audio Input). I noticed mine had been inadvertently changed to ADAT when it is actually connected via Analog. After the correction, the 896 reappeared.

Arggh! I've got the same problem. There was a power failure and when it came back on my 896 now just flashes '44.1' but doesn't connect to my mac. Very annoying. Anyone? Help?

I just got the same problem with my original 828... I wrote a TechLink to MOTU... they suggested I reset the voltage selector switch on the side (not sure if your interface has one of those)... just make sure you disconnect the power cord before you do it... just select 230v then back to 115v... I'm not sure if it worked, but you could try that...

FWIW, I was having problems with my MOTU 896 (*not* HD) disappearing randomly every 10s or so. I've taken the unit apart, examined everything. I just did the voltage input slider thing... voila! It worked!
Fingers crossed, but its been 30 minutes and no audio reset. Seems there's some capacitor or the like that's building up improper voltages and not draining?

FYI there were some Mac's where the firewire port just went out, and have been known to fry interfaces connected to it---including hard-drives. I've heard of this from several clients of mine, no rhyme or reason for it.
