Instrument Gain Problem / True Strike Percussion

I am experiencing a problem with the True Strike percussion also, though it may be a Mach 5 problem.

Some of the instruments (the general percussion for instance) have gain that is way too hot.

I can't find a way in stand-alone mode to bring a whole instrument's gain down.

You can of course control it with controller #7, but this really does not address the issue.

Is there some way to adjust the gain of a single instrument so that all of your loaded instruments are fairly even?

It is really hard to write with some instruments slamming loud in comparison to others.

I asked MOTU tech. support, who basically told me that I am doing things wrong by wanting that and not using controller 7, although I have been doing exactly that with my Giga systems for years.

Many if not most people, I think, use CC 7 for volume moves, not preliminary overall gain.

I am confident I am not alone there. :P

You could use expression (CC 11) to scale down your volume (CC 7 moves). Or vice versa – use CC 7 to set the overall level and CC 11 to program your level changes.

I generally use CC7 to set the overall level of a sound and then use CC11 to make dynamic changes and shadings.
