It's Here!! It's here!!!!! I just received my new MAC PRO 8 core, 2.8GHZ!! It's been so long since I did the original installs on my G4 (in like 1999) that I can't even remember what the best sequence is for doing clean installs on EVERTHING from DP 5, MACH 5, EZ drummer, various drivers etc. In particular, since I just upgraded to the MAC PRO Intel based processor, should I upgrade my audio interface(MOTU 828mkII) divers etc. from the MOTU website first before I install any software? Are there any other drivers etc, or a specific sequence I should follow for installing all of my software? Any specifics with the MAC PRO upgrade that I am missing?. Thank you in advance for any advice you may have to get things running as smoothly as possible!

Congrats on the new computer!!

I wouldn't think that there is any particular sequence to installing software since some of the software will require the computer to be restarted before it can be used.

But a general checklist in no particular order:

1. MIDI interface driver
2. Audio interface driver
3. DP
4. Third-party plugins and fx
5. Third-party virtual instruments

Leave plenty of time for the install process, especially if you have larger sample libraries. Mach5 and EZD shouldn't take very long, though. Barring no hurdles, I'd say it will take about 60-90 minutes or so for everything to get installed and running comfortably-- not counting whatever download time is involved-- and not counting the process of plugging in hardware and cables or installing RAM or additional hard drives.

If you are using anything from Native Instruments, registration and authorization requires an extra measure of patience, to say the least.

Have fun!
