Hi,
I was looking for that "drop-jaw-to-the-floor" emoticon, but couldn't find it here.
If you go to:
www.celemony.com/cms/index.php?id=dna
and run the video, you might be looking for it too...

Love how the VO dude pronounces MIDI as MEEDY. Perhaps the next plugin from Celemony can fix that too.

This is bigger than you might think. This means a whole new paradigm for sampled instruments, too. No need for massive sample libraries. It could mean a new paradigm for MIDI.
Wow!
Amazing stuff.

This technology will enable audio to MIDI conversion with polyphonic material. Also, if the pitch and time modulations really sound as good as the real thing, this thing can create sample libraries on the fly, roughly speaking.
I can't wait too see some thorough reviews of the DNA. And then, to MOTU throw it in DP7.

EDIT
Shooshie, I just read your post and share your thoughts exactly.

This is bigger than that SHoosh...
In my mind, I have always imagined the day when technology could reach inside any recording and access the individual parts..
Imagine if at a mastering house, one could remove the snare or any other part of a recording and replace it, change it, remove it etc...
To be honest, this is the start of music's real future.
I have envisioned the recording studio of the future to be one in which you can record anywhere in the control room or room , and the computer will locate you, no need to place mics, they are in the wall and the software deciphers where you are and is post-modified and you just record wherever you like and remove all unwanted artifacts after, adjusting virtual mic postions, types etc...
3 dimension audio access inside any file is the future and it starts with this. I know the inventor, I have beta tested for him in the past..he's a great guy...a genius
Imagine taking a voice of a master recording and replacing it with your own..uh-oh..no more need for musicians..lol

Looks great as a tool for demoing or damage control, but it will never replace a real musician playing it right in the first place.
Mind you, it's sort of funny to imagine a recording session where a guitarist sits down, plays whatever the hell he wants for 10 minutes and then leaves.
I wonder how this thing will handle overdriven and distorted guitar chords.

I'm all for manipulation, but many times people forget that it's just easier and faster to play what you want than go through all this.
I've never been impressed by Melodyne up until now, but this is interesting and pretty amazing. I'm not sure I agree with the statements that that you can't tell the changed tracks from the original though. No need to get carried away, it's pretty impressive anyway. It will be interesting to see how well it works in real life.
I'm betting that it won't really work on distorted material. It seems like that would be harder and they would have shown us if it did.

Takes a lot to impress me but this really did.
I did NOT think this was possible but hey there you GO.
Implications are immense.

Melodyne is a cool concept but I can never get past the fact that I can't get it to sound natural. It's always obvious to my ear that processing is being done. Does this matter for pop music? Not so much, especially since they seem to love that sound. But for everything else I can't use it. I've tried more than once. Is there some setting or preference that I'm missing?

I am floored. Really, truly amazed as I thought this would never be possible. To be able to reach into a chord and change it? How can they even do this? Is it shifting harmonics or something? Wow!
