I have a Pioneer DVR 111D dvd writer pulled from my old G4.
On the back of it has pin settings: Master/Slave and Cable Select.
Anybody know how this setting should be.
I've searched internet tried to find manual for it without success.

I have not added a drive to a MacPro yet, but in the past, I've left it off and let the system determine which one is master and which one is slave.
If you have problems doing it that way, it doesn't really matter what you do for the new drive, as long as both devices on the chain have different settings. If the original device has the pin set for "Master", then set this one for "Slave".

Thanks.
This afternoon I installed the Pioneer DVR without changing the jumper (master).
After a restart my Mac wouldn't boot up: it keeps cycling the restart.
So I took it out and changed the jumper to 'cable selector' last row and put it back in.
This time it boots up and I can select which DVR to use, nice.
Here comes the bad part: the tray of the Pioneer is a bit thicker than the Sony that comes from Apple.
The tray will open but it won't close. I have to push the aluminum door down so the tray can slide in.
I could remove the aluminum door but it will ruin the look.
So I decided to take the DVR out and put everything back to normal.
Just another waste of time.

I had that problem once.
All I had to do was remove the face plate from the drawer itself.
Have a look at it when open and see if you can remove said piece of plastic.
From what I remember, it slid off vertically.

Thanks, but I think I'm gonna let it rest for the time being.
