This is a spinoff of two prior threads: http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24990

Here's a brief clip of an Alvarez Yairi DY 73 CS recorded with an Octava MC-012-01 mic, and a Gibson EB-2 unprocessed through the pre-mod 828:

Same instruments, unprocessed (and un-quantized ) through a BLA 828:

Same, but acoustic recorded with the Red Cap large diaphragm on the Octava.

I'm very happy with the Black Lion mod and the Red cap. Both are inspiring me to break out my direct input/ MIDI guitar bass line habits.

Good cheer.

I hear some big, and improved, differences. The mod sounds far more open and clear for both the acoustic and bass. The red cap adds another flavor - not "necessarily" better, just different. I think you spent money wisely!

Yes, open and clear.

I still need to compare DI electric guitar pre and post mod. An initial listening didn't seem to reveal much difference.

Money spent wisely indeed.

Also need to spend some time finessing levels with the TubeHead which can be temperamental. I think a Brick is in my future.

You're welcome.

I'm very pleased with the results.

To my ears the difference is very tangible with miked acoustic guitar, and bass. DI electric guitar is more subtle.

Cheers.
