I was going to suggest that one but it anoyingly isn't available on Intel Macs.... So didn't!monkey man wrote:I always recommend Airy Andre's Speedster for this type of thing, not least because it's free and a no-brainer to use:

Have a look.
If you have Kontakt 3 (or another soft sampler) you can manipulate the sound of tape slowing down by using the "Master Tune" and sample "Tune in semi-tones" virtual knobs. It gets down pretty low that way, but the tape eating sound will probably need to be a sample of it's own.lampostudio wrote:How can I get the effect of a tape either slowing down to a stop or a tape getting eatin'

Is your mac an intel or a power pc? Speedster doesn't work on intel macs! Also the soundtoys speed plugin i mentioned before only works in protools so you wont be able to use that one.... Have you read this thread yet?lampostudio wrote:I am using DP5

I went to the speedster site and downloaded the plug but couldn't get any further than the download. There are no instructions and when I launch it, it is looking for an app.

Rats. I have DSP-Quattro and never thought to use that feature that way. Too late for me now, I ended up using speedster, but in retrospect, I think I would've got better results with DSP-Quattro. I'll have to file that away for future reference, thanks for mentioning that!spitfire31 wrote:In this thread:

I just wrote (p. 2) about how DSP Quattro might fit your bill perfectly for a modest outlay, provided you don't need to automate the varispeed ••“ you have to operate it manually. But it's really neat, almost like manipulating a reel-o-reel (I imagine; haven't done that for a l-o-n-g time ••“ worked with tape, that is).
