Hey, Matticus! Nice textures. Good music for prayer/meditation (as I think you intended). I like the layers of guitars, and you've mixed them nicely. You've kept things subtle and understated, including the soloing, which is nice. Maybe the shaker slightly farther back in the mix would keep it from drawing attention to itself.

If this were intended for more focused listening, then maybe a more recognizable melody might be helpful (of course, here I'm getting into composing rather than recording technique). I'm also a sucker for building layers and intensity through an arrangement, but again, that has to be what your looking for for it to work. I can hear more layers of percussion coming in and out (congas, triangle, light cymbals, shotgun, I dunno), and maybe a new chord progression part-way through (like a sort of bridge or something).

Again, disregard this part if I'm missing the point. For meditation and ambient music, this is very nice as it is!

Thanks for sharing!

yours,

Hey, thanks for the reply. It was a bit of a rushed project. I gave it out with a few other things I had done this year as Christmas presents for my family. It kind of inadvertently became a little mini jam on the acoustic. Yeah, one of my other friends told me about the shaker thing, good call. When I get some time I'll definitely look more into the "model12" thing that came in DP5 to see what all other percussion type things it might have in it to add. Yeah, I could definitely hear some perc stuff, maybe a djembe.
I might re record it. There's a different right hand pattern I think, in retrospect, I could have used to make it a little more precise timing wise. Anyway, thanks for the unicornian wisdom!! That's good input. It's much appreciated!

Wow that'd be cool! Are you talking like a bowed upright? or electric? There is, of course, no budget for it, but if you're inclined, I'd love to hear it.
