WANTED: Successful SP2 multiple 896HD Firewire story.....

Has anyone out there successfully deployed multiple 896HD Firewire under Windows XP SP2?
If so I would love to know how................Thanks!

No luck with that setup...Sp1 only with dual 896hd, the firewire speed is the issue with sp2, motu manual says 4 at a time, it is not true, i still got some dropouts even with sp1 dual setup. I gave up on it sadly, if you want stability in a daw front end then you should maybe purchase an RME rig, they work and stay in sync with one another. Motu is good as a stand alone unit but no good for sync...In my opinion...

Hi there,
I have 2 896HDs and a Traveler. I use them all together regularly on SP2. didn't even know this was (suposed to be) a problem.
I have 2 dells and a homebrew quad core. All work. Some have keyspan firewire cards, some use firewire on mb.
record church services each week without dropouts (1.5 hours+ continious)
firewire cable between 896HDs is 6" long if that helps.
I am reading more about the problems peeps are having with multiple MOTU devices and SP2
hmmm.... that's not really a success "story" since I have never had a problem.
It may matter that I have all of the optional ins and outs turned off (opticals and such).

While I haven't had this problem, I am using all the same FW cards. They are made by Keyspan. Don't know the model, but they have 3 external and 1 internal FW port and NO USB.

Hey Guys,
I have 3 MOTU 896HD's and one Ultralight and they work well together. So I can lay down 26 mics and 6 line inputs. The external hard drive is first in the FW chain, then the 3 896HD's. The CPU useage rate is low and hard drive useage is tolerable using SONAR 6 Producer.
I consistently record 22 to 24 tracks every Sunday especially with our Praise Band/Singers. On occasion I have recorded musical special services with great success. I connect through the Mackie 8-bus recording mix board (send outs) and multi-track the band/singers that way. It's pretty good.
I have 3 cabinets to "hand truck" in to a remote location and even my own table to put my stuff on! I even use a laptop to process the audio recordings! I prefer external FW hard drives for speed and handling of audio. I also have an APC 650 UPS that I carry with me just in case the power fluctuates or gets unplugged!!javascript:emoticon(':)')

I rolled back to SP-1 for a while, but found a "work around" for it. It essentially rolls back the 1394 driver from SP-1.
