HI,
I have a PreSonus Eureka (Mic Pre & Channel strip) that I plug my mic into. The question(s) is , does it matter that i plug the Eureka into one of the "Mic/Guitar" in's on the front of the 828MKII? Which means that I'm going from Mic Pre into Mic Pre! Would turning down the "trim" knob on the 828 bypass it's Mic Pre? Or, If I use a 1/4 in. balanced plug going into the 828's Mic/ Guitar in's, will that bypass the Pre? Or do I have to use one of the other inputs?

You should probably be going from your Eureka mic pre into one of the analog inputs on the back of the 828. You don't need to be going through another preamplifier, unless you find you like the sound, but it's not something I've tried. Maybe you're using the front panel inputs to the 828's mic pres because they're more convenient, but you're just putting more electronics into the chain.

Whilst I've not tested the various scenarios yet, I have a similar dilemma:

Focusrite VoiceMaster Pro -> Mackie Onyx desk inputs.
If I use XLR (quieter, I assume), I'm definitely going through 2 pres.
If I use 1/4" (noisier, I assume), I might be going through 2 pres.

FWIW, CuzCutz, I'd say that if you crank the pre you like and trim down the lesser-quality one there'd be little unwanted colouration.

On your Mackie there are LINE ins on every channel. They accept Balanced and Unbalanced signals, your VoiceMaster Pro offers both Balanced (+4) & UnBalanced (-10) outputs. Both the Focusrite and the Mackie are relatively quiet, so I would suggest you use an XLR to 1/4" TRS ("stereo") cable from the VM Pro +4 (BAL) output into any mono channel LINE In on your Mackie desk.

The Balanced (+4) output will allow a "hotter" signal into your DAW and also allow for longer cables to be used between the two pieces.
Noise should not be an issue if the correct type of cables are used.
