I never noticed it before until I upgraded to 10.4.11, and thus Safari 3.0, but now when I am typing online, I get the red underlines in words a la MS Word spell check. Is this new in Safari 3.0, or did I just never notice it before??

Either way, it is absolutely irritating. Anyone know how to disable it?????

OK - I found how to turn it off. Still would like to know if this is new in 3.0?

no, this is definitely not new to Safari 3...that feature has made me appear like a better speller than I am for years now! :D It's built into OS X; it's in any standard textbox type area (for Cocoa apps)

wow - never worked in my Safari 2 - one of the main reasons I switched to Firefox initially.

Now that I've been using Firefox for so long I can't go back to Safari. I used Safari 3 for a full day (it is fast), but missed all the conveniences of Firefox.

Enable it under Edit>Spelling>Check Spelling as You Type

I have Version 2.0.4 (419.3)

Been there - got the 'don't tase' me bro' t-shirt :)

BUT... when I moved to Leopard, I went back to Safari and dumped Entourage for Mail, iCal and Address Book because the integration between those programs is so tight now.

Haven't lost the scroll bar yet, but a fair number of instant crashes in Safari. What is new is the resizable text box. Very convenient for those particularly long winded, egocentric, pompous :) posts.

OK, I'm a geek. "Don't tease me bro!" :)
