Installing 2408 MK2 and PCI-324 on G4 733 running 10.4.11 ?!

Please help me if you can. I am trying to set up a second-hand Motu 2408 MK2 with PCI 324 on a G4 for my son for Christmas. Downloaded driver 1.08. Only operative there is the control panel, but it cannot "see" the 2408 or ports. Also cannot see 2408 in Logic Express 7.2. The PCI card seems to otherwise be operative, is seen by my system, etc. Checked firewire/swapped. Reinstalled x2.
I know that CueMix won't work in 10 with the 324 card, and the Audio Desk is only version 1 that came with second-hand setup. It feels like there's a configuration piece missing or a conflict somewhere. Suggestions?

I also need to test and confirm that the interface and board ports are operative -- interface lights up but could the firewire port be blown? Ditto the card? Do have OS9 Classic available -- do I need to set up there first to name ports, then upgrade in 10? Can anyone offer troubleshooting tips? Or install steps I may be missing?

Could be a sad xmas around here : (
Cheers, K

I have a PCI-324 on my G4 running under 10.4.11 - works fine (though with a 1224). Driver version is 1.0.8 like you.

First things first, make sure your card is installed firmly, and that you use the cable that came with the card to connect it to the 2408. (I've never tried using an actual FireWire cable, but they should work as well).

Power on the interface, then power on the Mac. On my 1224, two LEDs (sampling rate: 44.1 or 48 kHz) blink back and forth when it can't reach the host computer. Once the driver loads, a single one of those 2 LEDs lights and the other extinguishes. This is how I usually tell if the card is installed correctly, the cable is connected correctly, and the driver is correctly talking to the card.

You should be able to see the PCI-324 under the Audio MIDI control panel - see if you can select the PCI-324 under "Properties For" under the Audio Devices network.

I am able to see my 1224 under "Clock Source" in the pulldown underneath the "Properties For" pulldown. 3 1224-related options are listed. Can you see your 2408 in this pulldown?

Do you know a store or friend in the area who can confirm that the 2408 runs correctly on their PCI-based setup? If you're in Toronto, send me a PM and you're welcome to try it over at my place.
