My battery is dead.

Hey guys, I've got a MacBook Pro, and the battery suddenly died. The OS wont even recognize it. Any ideas why?

How old is it? There was a recall on the batteries that shipped in the 1st gen models. There have also been firmware updates that affected the batteries.

I had this happen to me after I did a battery update from apple's website. I took it in to the apple store and they ended up replacing 3 things in my computer. I don't know exactly what they replaced because they didn't tell me. They just gave me the part numbers and I could never find out what they were.
