Force Quit Behavior Change Under Intel?

I wonder if I'm just imagining things, but I feel like Force Quit used to be much more responsive under PowerPC, as in, you launched the command, the application in question immediately quit - no problem. At least, that's how it was for me. Now that I'm on Intel, I find that force quit is behaving like...well, Windows and CTRL+ALT+DELETE, with me having to execute the command two or three times and then having to wait a few seconds before the application quits. I wonder, is this an Intel issue, and I've been unfairly ridiculing Windows for its poor ability to kill an app all these years, or is this actually a change in OS X from earlier versions?

Anyone else notice this?

I can't say I have. Depending on the app to be nuked, my G4 dual 800 PPC running Panther sometimes took more than one go to kill a process.

Kind regards.

Hmm...I guess I was just lucky on my old machine...I can't remember ever having to wait longer than a second or two.
