M5/DP/OSX in ram? Can I use internal MB drive??

Guys a question for you...

I use an external FW drive for my M5 samples as well as another one for DP audio (Macbook C2D running DP5/M5). The reasoning for having dedicated drives is to reduce stress on my laptop's internal drive.

Now, I just thought to myself, if OSX/DP5/M5 are all launched into my Macbook's ram anyway, then its internal drive isn't actually doing anything right?!

So why can't I then use it as either my M5 sample drive or for DP audio... and have one less drive daisy-chained off my computer?

They aren't launched totally into RAM, only a portion of them -- all of those programs are almost constantly accessing your hard drive, or at least need the ability to do so -- to fetch the info that is not in RAM.

On the other hand I do not think that for smaller projects you will run into huge problems by storing your samples on your internal drive. Why not just try it and see?????
