What works with Vista 64 bit?

Post by shadow516 »

Hi, I'm new here. I wanted some input before purchasing a higher end sound solution for my new Vista 64 bit machine.

The 2 products in considering are the MOTU 24 I/O w/ the 424-PCIe or the 2408 MKIII w/ 424-PCIe.

My system is as follows:
Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit
Intel DG965WH mobo (northbridge chipset)
Intel Core2Duo 6600 2.4 Ghz
4 GB DDR2 600MHz Ram )2xKingston 2GB/2xCrucial 2GB)
ATI Radeon 1300 512MB PCIe x16 GUI
DAW: Cakewalk Sonar 6.2 (running 64 bit version)

I recently have had some incompatibilties with Creative and M-Audio pci cards not running on my system so I want to make sure MOTU products could work on my PC.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Not sure if the Motu is working with Vista 64 bit systems with more than 2 gigs of ram at the moment.

Mine is still glitchy.

I read here and there that there is some kind of driver issue with more than 2 gigs of ram that is being worked on.

no idea if it is true or not.

the ultralite would not work in my 64 bit vista box with 4 gig of ram - but did with 2 -

they are apparently working on a solution, but that solution has been a LONG time coming - so dont hold your breath.....

Thanks for the info. I'll hold off on getting a MUTO product for the time being than. It has been quit a challange finding any I/O hardware that works with Vista 64. Oh well, I'll just keep waiting I suppose.
