clock problems with 896HD

Post by jsimms »

We have been experiencing interface problems with our dual 896HDs with DP. Somehow, the clock gets screwed up when DP loads, and then about 4 minutes into a previously recorded tune, all the tracks sound like static even though the soundbites look OK. There is also clock issues with the 896s losing sync, but syncing back up when the hardware drivers window is opened. All in all, we seem to get these clock problems from time to time. Has anyone else seen this?

Are you clocking over adat optical? If so remove the offending cable and clean the ports with compressed air. If that doesn't solve it, try a new adat cable. If that's the cause, liberally apply scissors to the old adat cable.

You would be better off clocking over word clock anyways.

But... this is all assuming you are clocking over adat. Some more info would be useful.

My 896 HD was doing a similar thing. I had to send it in for an $80.00 repair. It appeared they replaced the Firewire inputs. They did not include a list of what was fixed.
