4.61 and 5.12?

I've just spent a while searching for an answer to this and couldn't come across something that specifically answered my question. Sorry if I missed it somewhere.

I use DP 4.61 live for backing tracks for a church and would like to upgrade to 5.12...finally. However, I'd like to be able to keep a working copy of 4.61 even after I install 5.12 because I can't be stuck with a copy of DP that isn't solid come Sunday. I'd like to be able to test 5.12 for a while, opening old projects, testing VI's, etc before fully moving over.

Can I just install 5.12 on my current computer and have access to both copies - including VI libraries? I've read that many people seem to have problems with this - mainly with the newer copy not working correctly. Or do I need to create another partition to install to? or another hard drive to install to? What's the best way to do this so I can insure that I have at least one stable copy of DP at all times? Obviously, I'm going to back everything up before doing anything.

Thanks for the help. I'm a frequent lurker and you guys have saved me so much time and hassle!

I like the idea of a separate partition. I actually have 4.61 and 5.11 on my laptop, but I'm not running anythiing at all complicated with it.

Keep in mind that Audio Bundles in 4.61 is very different-- changed to Bundles, which is more complex. Your 4.61 projects may need new Bundles to work properly in 5.1x-- many people had trouble opening older projects in 5.1x, and deleting the 4.61 Audio Bundles to recreate 5.1x Bundles from scratch seems to be the trick.

Aside from the audio bundles, both 4.61 and 5.11 work fine for you on the same partition?
