I have M5v2 and Ultra Focus from USB. Motu claims M5v2 has no problems loading uvi soundcard from USB such as Charlie, Ultra Focus, etc.. however when I attempt to load my UF .dat file into m5, it loads with no presets.???

I contacted MOTU and their response was brilliant "we do not have a copy of Ultra Focus to test this on" and went on to say they contacted USB to get a copy. REALLY...after 2+ years waiting for M5v2 shouldn't this have already been tested??!! I mean they advertise it as such.

Can anyone try this for me??

UPDATE: everyone whwo tried this over at osxaudio reports it not working as well, even with the new uvi cards.

Pretty unbelievable, considering they advertise it as working and loading uvi cards. I went back and forth with the rep from MOTU who felt the need to explain to me that "they do not make Ultra Focus and do not have a copy to test". What a joke!!

They never tested these! How hard could it be, there were only a few cards to test (5)

Sorry to say but you are mistaken.

UltraFocus is not an USB sound card but a plugin using the old UVI engine and infrastructure. The sound card that contains the sounds of UtraFocus is name "Synth anthology" and it is compatible with MachFive2 as well as PlugSound Pro and the UVI Player. The same goes for 'Charly' which became the sound card 'Retro Organs', and XtremeFX (which kept it's original name as a sound card).

While MachFive2 can load all the UVI sound cards and original 6 Plugsound sounds, it doesn't support loading the other plugins .dat files.
