I've been looking for a half hour already and I can't find an answer.

when I go to install my machfive2 it says I can use an ilok or just authorize the hard drive. I would much rather not use the ilok, but I can't find any info about it.

how many machines can you authorize, if at all?

I believe the iLok software/website might auth your hard drive - I don't know really, I just use the iLok so I can use M5 on any computer..

You have to use the iLok with any of MOTU's iLok-authorized products (MachFive v1 and v2, MSI, Ethno, MX4, etc.). MOTU doesn't offer hard drive authorization.

Well, it's been a week and I've got no answer from MOTU so far.

I submitted the info from the installer to see what their answer was. If they do do hard drive auth they aren't quick about it.

I haven't had time to play with it yet anyway. I went out of town for a couple weeks the day before it got here and I've been busy ever since.

stupid work.

Well it seems that they did answer me, and quickly too, but it was in one of my many spam filters.

the answer is; no, you can't authorize the hard drive, even though the installer says you may authorize the hard drive or use your ilok.
