New Rough Mixes (Missing Palmer West)
Time has been very sparse lately (Third child due in 18 days)
But I had a chance to start mixings a few songs that we have been recording.... Not finished but a good start of mixing....
Any comments or suggestions about anything would be appreciated...
They are fairly dense mixes, so thats probalby one thing I should really focus on but anyway.... they are located on the public folder of my .mac under the folder MPW
Thanks for listening

Hey builder.
Thank you for volunteering some more magic.
You're doubtless aware by now that I'm a firm respecter of your work.
Only hassle is I can't load the page.
Any chance of some direct links for we tortoise-modem-wielding young punks?

Thank you builder.
Could be Quicktime.
Could be the fact that my connection's slowed to around 1k tonight.
Could be both.
Could try again tomorrow.

I really like the songs and the overall sound. I think that the vocals need to come up front a little more. They get obsured and muddy in parts. Also, some of the songs seem to need a little more top end sheen. They sound kind of dull. I guess that would go along the lines of your density assessment.
Nice work though.

Congratulations on this, these are great song where one can feel some
Lennon/McCartney influences amongst others.
Are you the writer? player? singer?
Oh yeah and congrats on your 3rd child! that is now enough folks to put a family band together!

Thanks for the comments people....
rcannonp - I agree with dullness..... Still decidedin what to do....
reekguitar - I play the guitars, produce, and write many of the arrangments. The piano player writes the songs and definetly has that Lennon/McMartney influenced (among others).

Great songs as usual
I find a little Thunderclap Newman influence myself.
Reminds me of watching the "Magic Christian" back in the 60"s
Absolutely showcase the voice, it is so unique and inspirational it deserves to be at the forefront.
Builder sent me out a CD of his last project and it remains my favourite listening disk.
Only criticism is it did seem to be overcompressed and would grate a bit after listening for awhile. These latest tunes actually seem to be a little more open.
Keep up the good work

Hi builder. Soundin' good. Overall not bad as far as mix is concerned, but I would agree with rcannonp about the vocals. They just aren't sitting quite right. I didn't have time to listen to all the songs in their entirety, but what I heard, I liked.
I think if you spend more time on the vocals, you won't regret it.
