DP 5.12 sending MIDI by itself

Hey All,
I have a session that I'm working on, using DP 5.12 on a Mac G5 (dual 2.3 with 2.5 gb of ram), sending MIDI over a MOTU MIDI Express XT to a turnkey Gigastudio PC. I'm running Giga 3.2. When hitting the play button in DP, every single channel shows a spike in the MIDI, as if DP is sending some sort of MIDI data, and 11 out of the 20 channels of instruments that I have in giga instantly load a different instrument (all 11 load the same instrument). Has anyone else experienced this? where is this MIDI data coming from, and how do I get rid of it??? Please help, I am in the middle of a project and need this to be fixed. Thanks so much.

Just found out some more info. DP is sending Program Change data to Giga Studio every time I hit the play button. Please let me know how to get rid of this. Thanks.

If you open the MIDI tracks in the Event list window, can you see the patch changes there?

If so, just delete them. Make sure you have not hidden them in the view filter window (make sure it is checked, so you can see them if there are any).

Or, even easier, temporarily have the view filter show you ONLY patch changes. Then, in the TO window, you would see them. Select them all and delete them. Then, restore you view settings as they were before.

I did a view filter for just patch/song changes. Nothing shows up. It's as if there is no data.... but every time I hit play, the signal gets sent. Any ideas?

Do you have "default patches" set up in the Tracks Window? You might have to use "column setup" to see this column if it's not displayed.

Also check the menu "Setup | Set Event Chasing". Make sure "Patch/Song changes" is UN-checked.

All of the Patches and Default Patches show as Patch 1. When I create a new MIDI track and assign it to an instrument track in DP.... it sends the program change data. Even though I haven't changed a thing on it.

I highlighted all of the tracks and cleared the default patches. That seemed to do the trick. But I'm definitely still curious as to why DP suddenly decides to do that in the first place.... I work at a post production audio house, and this has happened a few times on at least 3 of our systems. Strange.
Thanks for the help.

.

No idea why that is. It's happend to me once or twice, and I cleared them from the SE window. But it's always been ONLY 1 track, in my case. Never all of them.

Glad you could fix your problem.

Now, compose away! :P
