MSI and Security Update 2007-007 (10.4.10 Universal) problem

Post by Diazruanova »

Hi,

Anyone besides me that is running OSX 10.4.10 and the latest security update 2007-007 along with MSI?

I just installed this SU from Apple and now I can NOT open as a stand alone application MSI anymore.

I can use it as a plug-in from within Digital Performer ver. 5.12 without problems, but not as stand alone anymore. The icon just bounces on the dock a couple of times and then nothing.
This SU first was downloaded to the desktop and later it was installed by starting in Safe Mode. I ran Disk Utility to check the drive and permissions before anything and everything is fine.

Kind of intriguing to say the least, but not a real problem because I use it as a plug-in with DP.

Thanks for any comments

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling MSI?

Reparing permissions may also help.

Thanks Frodo,

I almost forget to post a reply to this topic saying that I already fixed the problem:

When Apple‘s upgrades (security or some new OSX version) finishes the installation process, it "Optimizes the system" (prebinding) as the last step.
It is at this exact point, that sometimes things can go wrong, and that was my case.
I recall reading on MacFixit that there was a problem with 10.4.10 update that along with the latest ver. of QuickTime, and also a Beta version of Java, which involved the prebinding process and that this combination. was blocking some Rosseta apps. specially Windows Office programs, so I proceeded to run Onyx yesterday and "Optimize" the system again, and voila!!!...MSI again works as Stand Alone app again, so maybe this info, can be somehow useful for future problems with Apple‘s updates
