Who's using logic and Dp simutainiously?

Not me but I know Frodo and Giles do

Does Logic Express count?

i have it, but mostly for the purposes of sketching and macro-editing MIDI at the beginning of a project (i.e. shuffling blocks of MIDI around while doing the initial composition). the built-in vi's are good enough for that purpose that i don't have to bring my external sample library harddrive along.

i then export the MIDI to dp for fine tuning, and to break out the "big gun" vi's. all the actual audio work (recording/mixing) is likewise done in dp.

I use both. Not sure what you mean by "simultaneously", but both are part of my project workflow.

I was wondering if you can actualy Sync the programs together,kinda like reason sync's to DP using rewire.

I believe someone was able to do this, but I've never tried it.

I believe some members have done this using Soundflower. We had a thread on this a couple of months ago, so if you search back in the archives you might be able to find the details. MOTU also has a page on it's support site that shows how to run GarageBand instruments directly from DP using Soundflower, and it should work for Logic as well.

IMHO, I think it's a messy solution. But if it works for ya, go for it.

I tend to agree. Both apps grapple for RAM and CPU resources. It's enough to keep them both running well one at a time.

There are better options for hosting other plugins-- but the most successful use of DP and Logic together has been on two different computers.

what is the advantage to using logic over DP? just out of curiosity.

Besides Better VI CPU management, I don't know.

I just went to the apple store to try it out,It is definintly better with cpu managment,but other than that it does the same thing somewhat.It's a whole different beast,but I liked it alot.

I chose Logic Pro over DP when looking to replace PT LE/Live 6 as my main Daw.Spending months here reading what DP was about helped me gain great insight to a wonderful program it is.Then after a few weeks trial at my friends house, i just never really clicked with DP's MIDI workflow esp. in the arrange window ie. i like region based editing that Logic provided.DP hands down wins in the audio editing domain even better than PT at times.I don't work on for hire projects anymore and just like to write for the joy of it, so a workflow that makes me feel at home is the prime concern.All Daw's are tools and its what fits one's own methodologies that should ultimately result in the solution needed to get the job done.The heated debates are great to read, but really it gets old.DP, Logic, Cubase, PT- all can go from A to Z, just pick your path and go.
