What's a mosaic file? (the extension?)

Finale can import Encore, Rhapsody, Score, MIDI, Midiscan, smartscore, and old mus as well as graphics. If I knew what a mosaic was I could tell you if it falls into any of these categories.

As with Professional Composer, MIDI files will import into Finale just fine, assuming Mosaic will export MIDI files. As with the issue on the Professional Composer thread, how each of these apps deals with anything other than notes themselves remains a mystery.

The best thing to do is to explore what other formats Mosaic and Professional Composer support on *export*. If any other format such as Encore, Rhapsody, etc can be exported, then your chances are much better for importing articulations and lyrics into Finale. Otherwise, you sort of have to start again with entering graphical and textual data unique to each app.

Many people have had good luck with a 3-step process:

1) Print a PDF file from Mosaic on OS 9.
2) Use PDFtoMusic Pro on OS X to create a MusicXML file from the PDF file.
3) Import the MusicXML file into Finale (available with 2006 or later).

It works for many Mosaic users, but not all, so try it first before you buy. The trial version works with one page at a time and can be downloaded from:
