Quantum bit Compatibility - Will MOTU be ready?

Post by MIDI Life Crisis »

I'm worried about DP and MachFive. They might not be ready for this update.

What if?!

Don't worry. Those computers can operate outside of time. They'll simply tranport all actions into the 35th century, when DP and M5 run just fine, but with slightly less speed than Apple's "Slicko," and less fame and desirability than "Crow Fools." There, they will do the work and transport the answers back in time to your monitor. It should all work nicely, since you get the bonus of negative latency. You can see on your monitor tonight what you will be writing tomorrow. ;)

How cool is that! So with MachFive I won't even have to think of what to write. I'll be able to playback what I am going to write in a few years.

My kind of gig! I wonder of the Beatles had this and are a group of aliens from the future?

No, they were actually stone-age monkeys (but the Monkeys were already taken in the future) who got visited by a huge black monolith, which gave them quantum instruments. They haven't even experienced their success yet, though John keeps whispering "we're gonna be more popular than Dick Clark!" while Ringo keeps correcting him with "JESUS, John!" and George says "who is Jesus?" and Paul says "it's all in the mind, George."

Or something like that.

Ok, that does it!

What's with all the trippy posting this week, eh?
Dang, there're half a dozen threads that're barely in phase with our universe.
Even then, they're only 90% there. I mean, "here".
Oh, and now.

Did you spike our water, Jimbo?

Jimbo?... 'fess up, man!

Sorry the posts are not up to your standards, Poo-Meister. In fact, if you read between the lines (pixels) you'll see that the post, while presented as a 'joke' is really interesting news about the far future of computing. Give us about 10 years and you'll be saying "wow, that gorilla mentioned this stuff a decade ago and now MOTUDigiDesign/Finale is just catching up! Why isn't MicroAppleSoft more open about their plans for the future."

I'm skeptical of the time-frame.
At quantum levels, things are just so hard to predict, let alone control.
The reports I've been hearing on the BBC over the years give me the impression that, at least on a commercial scale, we're still quite some ways off.

Still, I wanna believe it so I can one day say, "That Gorilla-boy was right!" :D

And you find them easier to predict in real time? :) Seriously, I didn't REALLY mean to suggest that MOTU start preparing for this, just thought the article was interesting to geeky types. (Now where did I put my pocket protector??? Damn, I let it at the strip club!!! I'll have to go back and look for it...)

I know, Magilla; I so get you, man. :D

Don't forget that we were at that club in 2019.
I'll go back with you if we can stay 'till the end of the show this time.
You're a nanger, hurrying out of there to make a 2007-06 appointment; we only needed to set the return time a little earlier.
Dang, we could've stayed a month. :?

IF you want weird, watch the movie "The Fountain" - I'm not sure if I'm in the future or in the past, or even present, and I didn't eat from the tree of life...

QUESTION: Concerning the world situation, how do you see the situation evolve in the next ten years? And further down the line?

Laibach: We cannot really predict the future; we constantly live in repetitive time loops of today and our yesterdays future is turning into our tomorrows past before 24 hours passes. We only sense that the future today is not what it used to be and most of it seems pretty unsure; but then it always has been; and we who have seen great changes must have great hopes, no matter what.
