I received the following message from Sweetwater this AM. (We'll see...)
MACH FIVE V2!!! It is real! I have seen it! I have heard it! It is a major improvement! Over 30GB of samples!
Sorry about that, I just wanted to let you know that MOTU was here this morning showing it off. They'll be shipping on or before July 13th and all registered users who bought after Jan of 2005 will be eligible for the free upgrade. \

Very cool. As an added bonus, I heard that there are 2 GB of genuine Monkey Man Whoops and Hollers samples in the new MachFive II.

Dang, you're on the ball and in the know, Billy.
MOTU afforded me the opportunity to grunt into their microphones as a sort of reward for my incessant chanting on Machy's behalf.
Actually, I pushed for the full 32 Gigs as I've quite a repertoire, but casual experimentation by the beta testers proved to be too much for them to handle.
I said to them, "But it's monkey poo in full UVI glory, fellas."
The poor sods who'd been doing the testing only flung poo at me in reply.
That reminds me: Does anyone know of a shampoo suitable for removing MOTU beta-poo?

I figure those blokes must be livin' on pizza and nachos.
Dang. Pooooh.
Oh yeah, thank you for thinking of me and droppin' the bait, Billy.
Like starved flies on a turd, the monkey inevitably bites.
PS: Magilla, I mentioned you had a particularly deep grunt.
MOTU wants to speak to you ASAP.

Hmmm, so I wonder, do I have to call them up and order it or should I just expect it to show up in the mail since I registered it within the last month?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Upgrade fee is up to MOTU, but I would guess around $150. As far as auto shipping, I would hold my breath. If you are entitled to the upgrade for free, I'd give a call to the MOTU sales dept. ASAP and get on line. They will probably ship the paid upgrades before the free upgrades (at least that makes the most sense in terms of business practice.)

I met with MOTU today to go over MachFive V2, and it's set to be released on July 13th and yes that IS a Friday the 13th, as well
I got a chance to see it in action and operation, I really like the updates! One HUGE issue I've had is not being able to increase the size of the plugin window--but I understand why that isn't possible. So what has been made is the ability to change the view within the plugin window itself, to zoom in so to speak. The way it will now import other sample libraries is well...to say it's amazing would be a large under-statement. It's MUCH easier to navigate, IMHO. There's quite a bit that honestly I don't have time to talk about, but I thought I'd share with you that this update REALLY is a major improvement and it's FINALLY happening!
Oh the version I got to see was still BETA, but I found no glithces, issues or anything major or minor that I saw as a hiccup.

Oh by the way, there is an 8gb piano sample included that is VERY good! And well, stand-alone capability is also major here too. There is about 30-32gb of samples, some of which are up to 192kHz.

i called MOTU and Alan this morning as soon as i saw this post. i also ordered Kirk Hunter's VSPro VIP edition in K2 format as i think that MachFive II will do the trick.
Alan had good things to say confirming the 8 gig piano set that sounds incredible and 32 gigs of sounds + a VSL DVD...... hmmm?
MOTU didn't have much to say other than it is the current PRIORITY in the shop!
that is what i want to hear.
my local rep here didn't have any news for me though....

Certainly this will run on an Intel Mac, but will it run on Mac OS 7.5? I just love those flying toasters in After Dark!

OK, I rang up MOTU and they haven't got a clue yet how it is going to work wrt distributing the upgrade. Stay tuned was all they would say.
