ooooooookay! got my 8pre yesterday. but i don't know why i don't have that ecstatic feeling. feels like buying a hammer. well , it's a tool anyway. and still, i haven't plugged it. from yestrerday! well the reason that i haven't plugged it is, i want to get it right the first time. so here's another truckload of questions..................
would i make another user in my laptop? like administrator and recording user? then i'll do the rme/sp2 thing?
i downloaded that latency tool but i haven't installed it yet. and i also downloaded that program to disable unwanted xp programs. question is, will the changes with this programs also affect my administrator user profile?
by this time i know you're all bored to death. but just help me get this right.
how do i disable the gui? somebody in here mentioned about it but not the steps.
and lastly, the irq number of my firewire port is 19. it's sharing with my express card slot. well it's a laptop, and some guys are saying use another slot which ofcourse i can't do. will i disable the express card or change it's number. by the way, 20 and 21 are used by 4 usb, and 18 is used by mmc and 3 more other things. will the changes here also affect the administrator user profile?
i hope the answers comes through today so i can finally plug it by tomorrow. thanks again. and ofcourse, i'll keep you all posted of my experience with my tool.
yiiiiiiiiiipiiiiiiii i'm a bonafide unicornational.
(what's to be ecstatic about.hehe)

well, because nobody responded, i just plugged my 8pre. i installed the latest softwares found in the motu website and just plugged it in. and it just worked fine. i tried recording with 3 mics. 1 for vocals and 2 for an acoustic guitar. i used sonar and the internal firewire with ricoh chipset. it sounded great and it recorded to the specific channel i set the inputs to. yesterday, i finished one radio spot with it using battery for drums and percussions, kontakt for some strings, live bass and electric guitars, a vocal track, and some other softsynths for organ and other sounds. the 8pre sounds great. i haven't touch the gui even. and i haven't installed latency programs or that program to disable unwanted windows utilities. well, i thought i'll let you all know.
