How much gain do the BLA pre's have?

I was looking at getting a mod to an 828mk2. I wonder if anyone can tell me how many dB of gain the BLA preamps have as I need to power some thirsty dynamics.

Cheers

I find around here and on other forums no-one seems to want to talk specifics about the MOTU pre's...like it's almost a taboo subject. MOTU themselves have no specs on them...what's up here?

I just received an email from BLA and they say that although they do replace the preamps, the gain structure remains the same, as the circuits are not replaced...or words to that effect.

Ok, so this leads me to assume that althought the dB amount of gain will be the same as stock MOTU pre's...but, perhaps the amount of gain at the upper dB reaches of the pre will be more USABLE...by way of being less noisy pre's perhaps??

I only use the stock pres for talkback purposes...i used to use them for tracking, but they are too honky and not clean. i haven't had the mod done, but some folks around here who have claim that the mod made the Pres "useable" on par with say maybe a FMR RNP, and if you listen to the samples on BLA's website, it definitely sounds much better.

Hmmm...not what I wanted to hear to be honest, but thanks for your honesty!
