DP5 - Tascam US 428 - Control surface ?

Hello,
I m using a Tascam US 428 as a soundboard with DP5 under OS10.4 on a G5 2x1.8.
This works fine, but i cant seem to see the US428 in the list as a Control Surface (which i used to do successfuly with DP2.72 under OS9.2.2 on my PowerBook G3 400).
Is it because of the drivers ?
I choose the US428_osx_3_4_0 but maybe there are not the right ones ?
Here s the list on Tascam's website in case:
- OSX Driver 3.4.0 Universal Binary for Intel & PPC Apple Mac computers v3.21 for Mac OS 8.6 - 9.x
- Installation instructions for v3.21 drivers for Mac OS X (10.2.3 and higher)
- Installation instructions for v3.21 for Mac OS 8.6 - 9.x
- OSX Driver 3.2.3 (10.3 Panther / 10.4 Tiger Compatible)
- DP4 Control Surface Plug-in for OSX (updated installer 02/24/05)
- DP4/OSX Plug-in ReadMe
- MOTU Control Surface Plug-in - OS9
- Cycling ••˜74 Max/MSP
Thank you for any advice, best.

No.
US-428 No longer seems to work as a control surface with DP5. It did fine with DP4 as well with the "Application Specific" DP4 Control Surface Plug-in OSX Driver written by Tascam.
As the US-428 is discontinued I don't know whether Tascam will still support it with new software (they did once with the OSX update).
I think it will be up to MOTU to make DP5 work with the US-428 like Logic and Cubase do...

Wow.
Maybe it has to do with DP compatibility with the UB 3.4 Tascam driver. I am using a MacBook (intel) and the US-428 would work with no DAW as a control surface using the 3.2.3 driver until Tascam released the 3.4 UB. Since then Cubase 4 and Logic 7.2.3 work fine with US-428. DP, however, does not.
Maybe liquidSmusic just needs to go back to the 3.2.3 driver for his system.
A workaround for DP/US428 control surface incompatibilities

As the above comments noted, the US428 control features no longer work with DP5 and above (though the audio and MIDI features work fine). Here is a workaround -- a program that reads in the control interface data and sends that to appropriate "command" messages in DP. You can download this from here:
http://www.cae.wisc.edu/~sethares/US428forDP.zip
Instructions are in the ReadMe file: basically you load in the key bindings file into DP and then start the us428 application. Most of the control features work as before, and it's pretty easy to customize them using DPs key binding commands.
Enjoy!

I had a US-428 for long time, just updated to something else and am looking to sell mine.
Anyway, I have an update for you:
I had the US-428 working with DP5. I don't remember the details, but if I recall right, I had an older driver that worked that was actually just older than the last driver tascam put out. And I know I had it working with DP5, but now I don't remember if I tested it for sure on my new intel mac or if that was just DP5 runnig on my G5 previously.
Best,
Aaron

I think it worked on the non-Intel. That's my experience, even with the newer (3.4) driver. I am going to try sethares program.

Hi, Aramis, it still works with Logic's transport controls for me too.
Something changed for DP. On my old Powerbook G4/ DP 5.01, Mac OSX 10.3.9, the US-428 will still control DP's Play, Record and Rewind buttons, and the faders in the Mix Window.
But not on the MacbookPro, Tiger, DP6.
Upgrading to DP5.13 or the Intel processor on the MacbookPro 'broke' the transport connection, and the fader control. That has not changed with DP6.
But I don't use the US428 with DP6 anyway, just to record a real piano with an old Titanium Powerbook; And the audio 'half' of the US-428 still works if I do need to record that piano with the MBP/DP6/Tiger combo. Just not the control functions, in spite of the Universal Binary (3.40) release.
But Logic, oui.

Even though DP5.13 on the MacbookPro 'broke' the transport connection, at least the faders still worked. That has changed with DP6.
