How often do you reload your OS?

I find that after a while, I start getting silly little glitches in OSX that only a full reload will fix - like the other day I'm working in Final Cut and suddenly I lose the ability to rename video clips. Just little things like that that come and go - not big crashes, just little annoyances.
So, in general I find myself reloading the OS about every 9 months or so, just to get a clean start.
Anyone else do this periodically?

I do a reinstall every couple of months. OSX seems to slow down after a while.

I never do stuff like that either, but it has me wondering...
I will experience "issues" like a FW drop out, etc., and can always track them down. Usually I have to reinstall some driver or component. What I am wondering if ...maybe... you are "fixing" your system by replacing the OS when all you need to do is track down your specific issue(s)?
Sort of like saying you need to change the oil in your car, but it runs so much better if you replace the engine.
In that light: Are you running a system utility such as ONYX that cleans out the various caches in the system? These are frequently the cause of slowdowns. Running something like ONYX (which can be automated to run while you;re sleeping - assuming you sleep...) takes all of 5-20 minutes depending on what you tell it to do. Replacing the OS... well, that probably takes a bot longer and you still have to reload some drivers and plug-ins, etc.
Just a thought from the peanut gallery... maybe it'll help.

Never.
But I do run Cocktail twice a week, and Disk Warrior once a month. Seems to lube gears well enough.
