I love Reason...and being able to set up samplers.. etc.. quickly..thing is that now that I have a Intel mac pro.. 2.0 with 3gigs of ram..and DP 5.1 i'd like to find something where I only use one program... DP drum sampler is lacking a step sequencer.. I Drum..only has 16steps same as Reasons redrum.yeah you have more. but you have to switch to different pages of the pattern..and that sucks.. Ultimate sound bank kept crashing..so thats a NO NO..... but what about mach 5?.. what does it come with?..can I use this and replace and forget reason.... where can one find Mach 5 presets?

MachFive is not yet available for Intel Macs. It's not Universal Binary.
Check out
Plugsound Pro. It's UB, comes with many usable samples and works in DP 5.11.
Or stick with Reason and expand its sample library. Why move away from something that already works for you?
plugSounds crashes..

plugsounds.. sucks.. I downloaded the demo..installed it.. DP kept crashig.. and started acting really stupid.. Even when i went do delete a couple of bars using the delete key on the keyboard it would not delete them.. weird..but true ..therefore no plugsound.. I see your point of reason.. its just that reasons MIDI sucks..I'll have to try to get into the whole MIDI from DP to control reason DP..because I do have tons of REfils. yes it's seems like the way to go..

FWIW
I usually program all my rhythms inside the Graphic Editor So it allows me to not being tied to a certain sampler. On other hand, I'm using Reason everyday and I wouldn't change it for what it does well. SOUND MODULE I'm not sure MACH V and REDRUM are the same type of sampler aren't they?

If you are looking for a softsampler I would look carefully at NI Kontakt. Universal Binary. Works very well w DP, very flexible editing, comes with 15 gig library, imports many formats.

Has a scripting language to do sophisticated stuff w samples, here they show example of drum sequencer:

I have not worked much yet with scripts so I cannot comment on that aspect.

I'm sorry you can't get it to work for you, but it doesn't suck. I've been using it on a current job with great results.

Yeah, run Reason silmultaneously with DP via ReWire. Use the MIDI tools in DP to control Reason's sounds (as if Reason were simply a VI in DP). That way you're not stuck with Reason's MIDI editing toolset.
I agree with emulatorloo,: If you want another soft sampler, check out NI Kontakt. MachFive has a better UI, but until it's UB you can't use it.

just for the record....I run a Intel 2.0GHZ mac pro tower.. with 3 gigs of ram.. and 3 xtra 7200 RPM drives...I will look at Kontact.. and also about keepping reason... and editing and recording in DP.. cause it sucks having to edit the vocal track s in DP..and then going to do the same in Reason.

There is a big pissibility you have loaded PlugSound , not PlugSound Pro ?

i don't think there's a demo for plugsound pro. since it's the same ( i think) engine as motu's ethnic instrument, my guess is that's it's pretty stable. I use Kontakt 2. Used to use a whole giga studio rig but now I never turn on the giga pc. Kontakt has some nice cpu conservation settings, like purging unused samples, which allows you to run more instruments. Very cool.

I have to agree with Chrispick on this. Plugsound Pro is great. I tried the demo and hated it as well. But Chris gave it high marks and I took a chance. Love it. And with the XTreme FX pack it gets even better for sound design elements as well as some musical stuff.
I use M5 as well and like it, but if I had an Intel Mac I'd be mighty angry at MOTU by now for not upgrading it. WHATEVER the reason!
