Anybody had the Black Lion Audio mods done on their 828 MkII ?

I have heard some good things about them. They are currently upgrading all the analog op amps (pres, lines, headphones) and a external clock mod is coming out soon.

The analog mod for a 828 Mk II is $295.

web site: Black Lion Audio

Anybody tried this yet?

I think a bunch of people have (or have looked into it). Do a search here using "lion" to find applicable threads.

It looks like they are no longer doing a clock upgrade-- they're upgrading the analog stage only.

I have a BLA-modded 828mk2 (clock/analog) and I love the thing. Had it done in November and the differnce is like night and day. The analog mod makes a big difference on recordings done before the mod, too. I believe that the clock difference will only be noticable on recordings done with the new clock (correct me if I am wrong here).

I learned this past week that they are no longer doing the clock mod becuase they have their own external clock coming out. I have another 828mk2 that I would love to have modded as well, though it looks like analog mod is all that's going to be available for this.

I sent them a down payment and got on the schedule (March 19). Analog is all they will do for now until their new external clock mod is ready.

Can't wait to hear it!

Thanks for the responses.

Bummer, I'd rather have the clock mod personally, one less thing to carry.

Yeah, I agree, but maybe it's going to be pocket-sized!

I'm definitely going to have the analog mod done for my second stock 828mk2 (it's so worth it!), and most likely end up getting the master clock when that's out (unless it's crazy money). My current BLA-modded 828mk2 (analog/clock) will become my portable interface for all of my Powerbook recording sessions.

It would be great if the new BLA clock, if it needs to be racked, is the same size as an RNC and uses the same mounting system that'll allow it to fit on a rack shelf.

I wonder why BLA is no longer modding the Ultralite?

Perhaps Matt's hands are not small enough to fit inside.
