:D

Hi all,
Haven't been very active on the motu-mac list for a while, so I hope some of the folks who were so helpful along the way are still here...
It took for freakin' ever but I finally finished this CD! Yes it was largely done in DP.

I have been calling the music "Indie Trip-Hop Alternative Swing"...
I hope some of you will pop over to the web sites & check it out!

What was done in DP? Sounds fantastic.

I'd love to hear some tracks, vsilly, but can only manage direct links to the songs, albeit very slowly.
Myspace and YouTube pages grind Safari to a halt with my slow connection.

Any chance you can post any?

Hi Noella,
Sorry for the slow response!
:-P

I did all pre-production and all sampler keyboard tracks in DP as well as some of the vocals and a couple of guitar tracks. At first I was trying to do everything myself with samplers and a bit of guitar. Then I hooked up with Motu-Mac list guy Jim Watson and we did some session tracks with the bass players and the guitar player at his studio in DP.

Jim got too busy to finish the project so at that point I hooked up with Myke Aaron who works in Pro Tools, and we did drum sessions, sax, viola, vocals and mixes.

Thanks for asking!!
:-)

Hi MM
There are lo-fi tracks up at bittybox.com for just such a situation...they are 1 minute or so clips of all the songs in MP3 mono.

Thank you, Vicki.
Have you heard of Unwoman (Erica Mulkey)?

She's a 'Cornie too, and very creative.
Joker reminded me very much of her stuff, which is high praise indeed, as I'm a keen admirer of her originality.

I've only managed to hear "Joker" so far, but I'm impressed nonetheless.
"Clarity" and "honesty" were the descriptions that came to mind in the first few bars of the piece.
Very good indeed; well done!

I'll persist, albeit with a stiflingly slow 1-2k connection, in my attempts to hear as many of the pieces as possible.
Oops... looks like I've only got a 0.7k stream tonight! Ouch.

Again, well done!
Nicky

Just an update:

After listening to 6 tracks, it seems "Joker" is more the exception than the rule.
You're definitely more jazz oriented/sounding than Unwoman!

Very nice efforts, Vicki!

This CD kind of wandered all over the map. A few songs are jazzy, a few songs are rock, a few are a bit experimental, one even sounds bluesy/country...
Thanks for checking it out!!

No worries, Vicki; it was fun.
You're a very creative person.

I hope my stuff works out half as well as yours did.
I tend to wander all over the place too.
