Just noticed there's a firmware update for the Ultralite.

Installed it without any issue. Any word from MOTU about the changes? I had an intermitent issue with the interface going crazy, and I was sure it was a firmware bug.

No issues yet. I have installed it without problems.

Problem with Ultralite Firmware 1.1.0

I applied the 1.1.0 Firmware update yesterday - it stated the update was completed successfully - rebooted the Ultralite and now experience drastic jumps in both volume and pan (what the...?) on my monitors with each click of the volume knob in any direction up or down beween 0 and -60.

Does anyone know if the Firmware update can be re-applied??

Thanks

Not here, everything works like a charm.

I use the main outs and I always have the output volume fixed to the "0" position, as I have a SPL volume control between the interface and the monitors. But just tried to move it and it works perfectly.

Ultralite worked perfectly until updating new firmware.
Now 1 of 2 things happen (using main outs), either...

a. no sound, or
b. very distorted high output, into the red

The problem is then quickly "fixed" by simply opening the cuemix console and pulling the master volume down then back up again. Presto, everything is back to normal again.

Of course this doesn't really "fix" the problem, as I don't want to have to do this everytime I turn on the Ultralite. so what now?

Cue Mix

Also when touching the faders in cue mix, the output sound drops out.
So the Ultra Lite is only useable if you dont touch anything.
Maybe I have to bring the unit back to the store if it's not fixed very soon. :(

Cue Mix

Also Cue Mix eats up over 80 % CPU in shown in Activity Monitor.
What a disaster.
Or as we say in Germany: "Ultra Leid"

Now that you guys mentioned it, it seems as though most of their drivers were updated at the beginning of the month. I very weary of updating my firewire drivers at the moment since they work perfect now. I looked at the pdf on the update and I still haven't noticed anything different than what was posted for the last one. Does anyone know what the difference is now (bug fixes, performance issues, etc...)?

The problem seems to be the Firmware Update, not the Firewire Drivers.

All is fine again

After deinstalling the Firewire Audio software and reinstalling,
everything works again faultless.
The only thing is the very high processor load when touching faders in CueMixer.

Sorry for the false alarm.

Feels a little better to read that more people have same problem as me...
I have almost blown my monitors because of this problem.
After updating the firmware I have experienced tha same problems as you
Though after moving the faders in Cue mix it usually goes back to normal...
I have tried reupdating the firmware reinstalling software on the mac but still no progress...

I hope there will be a solution for this soon!

Exactly my problem, very high, distorted output, until moving the master fader. Then everything is fine.

My Ultralite worked flawlessly until updating the firmware.

I've emailed MOTU tech support. If you are experiencing this issue, please let tech support know. Maybe if they receive enough feedback on this issue.......

As I said before. A clean install did the trick.
Start the Installer package. Select uninstall.
Than Spotlight search for "motu".
Trash all preference files.
Run the installer for the Firewire Software once again.

Just installed the new Firewire SW on my MacMini Intel.
Same problems.
After a few Uninstalls, Installs, Deleting kernel extension, fiddeling with the knobs etc. , it's working.
:?
In Activity Monitor there are shown about 100 faults per 5 seconds shown in the information window.
What really frightens me is, I'm using Shure E500 in-ear monitors.
These are VERY effective.
I have to use the analog volume control for safe.

Problems are back.
Seems to be a problem of temperature.
Now I'm back in tube-age.
