New guy - Old Fastlane Problem

Hi-read all the stuff about the Fastlane driver back in July of last year. I've got the iMac Core Duo and am trying to hook up my keyboard and sound module via this little device. Downloaded the "new" driver. Tried every configuration; cables, deleting from System>Library> etc suggested by everyone. Nothing. Should I upgrade to a "bigger" but not necessary interface? Thanks in advance for any suggestion...
