Altiverb is so very nice: extremely versatile, but costly. Ozone is well regarded for mastering situations and reasonably priced. The MOTU Masterworks EQ is free and quite stellar, and I don't mind the Masterworks Limiter either, although I usually use L1. I generally use Waves for dynamics, but am sure others will chime in with suggestions...

Hate to say it, but its hard to beat the Waves rennaisance maxx bundle. Because the auto tune is nice (faster for clients than the DP one), IR 1 l is a great reverb, and the comp is great. The eq.....well its not great, but 4-500$ for those plugs is pretty good.

For a great eq, check out tritonedigital.com. (hydratone is the champ). For a great free limiter (no meters ), check out the W1 Limiter (google it). Its the same as the Waves L1.

UAD-1 card is an excellent choice.

I have this and it kicks WAVES ass: http://www.nomadfactory.com/products/vi ... index.html

Included are this:
http://www.nomadfactory.com/products/bl ... index.html

and also, on a buget, this:
http://www.nomadfactory.com/products/bl ... index.html

Buy them here:
http://www.dontcrack.com/

...and also, check out that site for free stuff. Digital Fishphones Fishfillets plug-ins are great, too, and free!!!

I have the RenMax Bundle and it does get the job done. However, once I move to Intel, I'll need to pay for them AGAIN, due to WAVES' WUP bullsh~t. No thanks. I'll use the money for Altiverb and make even better recordings with the Nomad Factory stuff.

My personal favorite all-purpose reverb ($199)
http://www.wavearts.com/MasterVerb5.html

My personal favorite kickass maximizer/compressor ($149)
http://www.pspaudioware.com/indexen.htm ... ntage.html;

I experiment with all kinds of plugs, but always end up coming back to these two. Vintage warmer is a godsend for producing in-your-face vocals, and when inserted on the master fader...WOW! Transparent audio dynamite.

Cheers,

Geoff

WOW! Those WA plugs look amazing!

I'll keep MasterVerb in mind. Still using IR-1 (delicious) and now NF's BlueVerb (very good need more time with it).

two that i constantly come back to are metric halo's channelstrip and artsacoustic reverb (i prefer it over wavearts masterverb).
that said, the wavearts stuff is really good, too. also, you might want to check out izotope's ozone3, it's good bang for the buck (spectron and trash are great plugs too).
i also love the psp delays and altiverb.
