Stuck notes on Fastlane

Probably an old question, but... I'm pushing large amounts of MIDI data through a Fastlane into a Kurzweil 2500R. When more than 4 or 5 tracks are going, far less than the 16 I need, I always get stuck notes. Would a firewire interface be the solution? I'm planning on recording the sound or saving it on the K2500R and putting it back into the iMac as a MP3 file for use on the net. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or experiences.

I doubt the Fastlane is the problem. It should be able to handle 16 channels of MIDI without a hitch. I'm curious in your sig that you say you are using Performer (Not DP), but have OSX running. So, you must be using Classic OS9? I would suspect this is the cause of your stuck notes. Or, maybe you don't have enough RAM to run DP in Classic. In any case, I think you will have a lot better performance with your current hardware if you upgrade to DP 5.11 (or DP anything, for that matter. When was the last Performer update, and what OS supported it?)

The notes stick with I used Performer 6.2 running on Mac OS 9.2 in my iBook G3. Since posting, I've upgraded to an iMac G5 Core Duo and have ordered DP 5.1. I'm hopeful this will solve the stuck note problem. My main concern, however, is the end result. I hope to make MP3 or similar out of these MIDI files using the sounds of my Kurz2500R. I haven't quite firgured out how, but I think I'll have to save the audio or "sound" file on something (iPod, Mini Disc, ?) then put it back into the the iMac via an audio interface, like M-Audio. I plan on using them on my newly created web site. Anywhoo, thanks for the response. Keep the music flowing...

You will be able to run your Kurz to internal Mac audio input (or your audio sound card input if any) and record it in DP as audio.
Very easy.
Then you'll export from there as mp3 files.
