I don't like this guessing game. I don't want to get Kontakt only to have V2 come out the next day. I would not be a happy camper.

So, I am confident that they are still actively working on it. I just wish like all of you that there was a little more info from them regarding the status.It'll be ready when it's ready. We'd love to be showing it today but it's not ready yet. We are working on it.
Keep in mind the guys at the show have nothing to do with the decisions about MOTU product announcements. Giving them a hard time serves no purpose.

I may have never posted anything on this list, but have avidly watched for real news on Mach 5.
A few years ago, I spent countless hours building a sample library for Bitheadz Unity. Those who worked with it know it was a great sampler, if a little unpolished in appearance. One day they were gone. In evaluating a new sampler, one of my criteria was to find a company that made quality products and supported those products. Who wants to throw away all that time porting and polishing a library? I'd used MOTU software since the early 90's so I decided to go with Mach 5. Now we're a year into Intel machines and not even a port--much less the long-ago-promised V2.
MOTU has a long history of supporting some of their products--Performer being the prime example. But they also once had a product call Mosaic. It was a nice notation program for its day. It was purely a Mac OS9 product. OSX came out and MOTU continued to sell Mosaic. They never mentioned that they had no intention of porting to OSX. They just continued to sell the product until people gave up and changed to Sibelius.
Mach5 is beginning to feel like Mosaic.

I agree that giving them a hard time would serve no useful purpose, but what is NAMM about if not product announcement? Well, I'm a devoted DP user who gives MOTU the benefit of the doubt on a lot of stuff, but I have limits, most of which are business dictated. I need to upgrade my soft sampler early this year.

That wouldn't be an "extremely disappointing answer" to many, bdr.
At least they've confirmed it's in the works, and that it therefore hasn't been abandoned.

I asked also. It was noisy so maybe I misheard the guy I spoke with, but I think what I heard is that UB ports have been more work than the OS9 to OS X transition was (yes, I know Mach Five was never on OS 9, but I am speaking in general terms of the technological shifts).
I am a developer myself and feel the pain of these smaller companies having to waste so many resources on constant ports and reintegrations. It is why I chose Java and dumped C++ seven years ago. I may return to C++ soon though in the context of using QT. We are always evaluating how best to protect ourselves from what the big companies do. None of them care, and now some of them (especially Apple) are putting more focus on consumer devices than stability of their computer line, so I fear that smaller companies like MOTU may be pressed even worse in the future than they are now.
Adobe seems to have taken the tactic that the UB was going to take so long and be such a pain in the butt that they may as well delay things even further and use that as an opportunity for their first major GUI overhaul in aeons. MOTU has rightfully been more conservative on the GUI front (even since DP 3 running on OS 9) -- after all, they are emulating a proven analog way of working and enhancing it (whereas there is no pre-digital paradigm equivalent for the sorts of things Adobe does).
