For me, this has more to do with where we could be pointed but many of you here have great ideas so have fun with it and add on if your into it. :)

New 64bit DP6 features coming to a Guitar Center near you:

Automation:
* Mix bins include naming bins with automatic dates.

* Selection of one or all mix parameters in "duplicate mix".

* Copy single channel or group of channels parameters to new
mix from any mix and in any combination of plugs, echo sends, faders & pans.

* Automatic track sheets printable or PDF output include plug settings and NEW ability to add your own name & logo Info.

* 90-100MM fader option matching resolution of common
mixers like Mackie Control for great mouse mixing.

* Folders for tracks and MIDI instruments/VI's. (Hope this comes sooner)

* Support for WiFi, Airport, MSF up to 8 channels (Audio and or
MIDI in & out) Digital recording on air.

* Web Record with talkback. Record overdub anywhere in the
world with DP through Cable modem. (Find out more soon)

* New 'orchestrate checker' with 'finger common note
rubs' plus auto rewrite.

* 99% accuracy of audio track to notation conversion of any
sound or rhythm.

*'Morph' NOT A PLUG IN, change any sound bite to add characteristics of another as a phase coherent event. 99.99% accuracy of original track position on. Great to improve drum sounds and do wacky stuff.

* New for FREE. This will blow you away including 'Noise control evaluator which removes hiss, pops & clicks by inputing a sample of the noise you wand removed'.

Support for the NEW PCX 624 64 bit PCI card

With chainable Fiber op, (light pipes,) connect up to 384 channels of up to 32 bit 192khz digital audio device IO's, streaming VI's or Fiber Drives (see below). Anything that will except a light pipe feed with two way pass through mini nodes.

A single optical feed can now chain to almost infinite number of devices with any gear that has 'standardized mini nodes'.

NEW PCIX 624 64 bit PCI card has a built in, no jitter clock to feed all devices with .000001 resolution allows for new rock solid VSO, (automatable in mix), built into DP. In-out word sync bncs. No need for external clock ever again. Anti jitter any feed in.

Onboard IBM dual 4ghz custom micro processor ^option assists computer processing of any plug or plug type used in DP and corrects for plug type through emulation and delays automatically continuing to keep MOTU DP6 the most sought after stable mix platform ever produced.

internal and external dedicated optical drive ports for up to 4 internally mounted drives or 8 external 15Kspin Fiber drives for direct DP audio including streaming VI's. CPU can now operate DP software with complete integrity for unlimited capabilities. Latency is literally almost nil in monitor through effects.

DP is optimized for Macintosh but can now run on any platform with or without the PCIX 824. You choose.

Retail price of new PCX 624 64 bit PCI card $1400 (less CPU assist options)

As a fellow dreamer (I have a lotto ticket for the 165M jackpot tonight) I love this thread. Here's a few off the top of my head.

1)Maybe a little less visionary but I pray that by 6.0 DP will go back to making MIDI timing first priority!.

2)Latency adjustment automatic

3)Code tweaked to the point of solid 24 track record and playback capability with plug ins on each track at 96K off of a laptop.

4)MP3, mp4 export direct option in soundbite menu

5)FTP export direct from the soundbite menu

6)Streaming audio import and export.

7) DP merger with Logic and Cubase (no flames please)

How about "dynamic UI highlighting?"

Click on a track name and that entire track row, sequence row and mixer slider are highlighted simultaneously (and maybe all others are darkened?).

Shift-click on a track name and any associated VI window opens.

IBM must include 96K to it's CPU engine to get this on the computer but I'm sure you understand that.

I wrote to their engineering department 6 months ago begging them to add 96K stereo & 5.1 engines to laptop and desktop CPU products and to my surprise they called me back.

I explained on the phone how useful it would be for us DP music types and how they could sell more product instantly.

We spoke for about 20 minutes and I think he actually got it.

Was added to some weird engineering emailing since which I don't even pretend to understand and had to unsubscribe.

Funny though that!

I think the Apple Developers Conference may have something in store for us all soon. Dreamer that I am! God help me...

From Peter:

"2)Latency adjustment automatic"

How's this for dreaming....no latency at all.....

- I want it to wash my car and take my girlfriend dancing.

- Otherwise, DP needs a better scrolling method, using a Hand Grabber tool, similar to what exists in FCP, After Effects, etc., where you can grab the Sequence or MIDI windows, and yank them left, right, up or down. I find having to navigate a mouse pointer to a little bitty scroll arrow at the corner of a huge screen is painful and slow.

Just a comment: When I recently asked MOTU folks if they had any plans of porting DP to Windows, they responded with a single "no" so curt as to imply I should never breach the subject with them again. I thought that was odd since they have other products available for that platform (MachFive, for instance).

I makes me think that they're not inclined to revamp any DP code (unless they absolutely have to) and are content to add on to existing code (like adding wings to an elephant), leaving most vestigal code as is.

Just my impression. Hope I'm wrong.

- I also want the ability to make new takes, select among existing takes, and play/record enable multiple tracks simultaneously.

I want a customizeable interface -
set any kombination of colors/textures/contrasts, button types,
scroll lists, fonts and other sundry graphical objects.
(I'm very nearsighted  )

I want the notation part reworked to be useful and
easy to work with along the lines of Finale or Sibelius.

Failing that scrap the whole notation part and incorporate great working exportfilters to export our
music to formats that kan be opened directly by Finale and Sibelius.

Cheers: Dixiechicken
