Taking it back a few years DP 4 and OSX 10.2.8

A few years ago I was running this set up pretty much flawlessly. I stopped recording for a while and recently got started recording again.

Here is my problem.

I just bought a UAD-1 and realized I need to upgrade my OS to at least 10.3.9 Panther or 10.4 Tiger

If upgrade will I run into compatablity issues?

I am thinking running 10.3.9 keeping DP at 4.0 and adding the VST update on the MOTU website.

is there any other issues I might run into?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I have a dual 1G Quicksilver with 1.5 G of Ram I also run a 324 card with 2408mkII

Thanks in advance

You didn't say what you are upgrading FROM. That could be significant.

OH... are you already using DP 4.0?

What VST update?
Doesn‘t the UAD also support the AU format?

I‘d also go to the last DP 4 update. Was it 4.11?

You need 10.3 to run DP 4. DP 4 doesnt work in 10.4

That being said, I will tell you that 5.11 on 10.4 is way more efficient and stable for me (and others) on my dual 1.3 G4. FWIW.

Thanks alot guys it seems going 10.4 and DP 5.11 might be the best way to go I was just concerned that 10.4 might bog down my dual G4 but it sounds like some of you do well with it.

get a little apple script called "dash off" from versiontracker -- turns off the Dashboard. That is the only thing that makes 10.4 a little tougher than 10.3 to run. Other than that 10.4 is about the same CPU wise. In everyday use running Dashboard is no big deal. Just when you run DP. So I just run the "dash off" before I start DP up.

Also, 10.5 might be just around the corner -- maybe @ Macworld on Jan 9th. If so, I bet there will be some sales on the net on 10.4.
