AKG 240M with 828 mkII - headphone impedance

hello!

i'm wondering if anyone knows what impedance the headphone output on the 828 mkII can support?

specifically i'm wondering if the 828 headphone out can drive AKG 240M headphones, which have 600 ohms impedance.

i know AKG now makes the 240S headphones, which sound awesome and can be driven even by consumer electronics. but from everything i've read, i think i'd prefer the lesser emphasis in the bass of the older, now discontinued 240M's. but before i go hunting around for them i'd like to be sure my 828 mkII can drive them. right now i'd rather not have to buy a headphone amp. can't seem to find any info on headphone outs impedance in Motu manuals, website, or anywhere else on the web.

thanks for any help!

I use K240DFs w/my 828mkII. The resistance is 2x600 ohm. They sound fine, but the volume has to be cranked up a lot higher than other headphones I use.

I've got the K240M's that I use with an 828mkII. They do work fine, but as the previous poster stated, you do have to crank the volume much hotter that you would with something like the Sony 7506's. I couldn't use my 240M's with my original 828 at all. Not nearly enough gain on the headphone out.

in case anyone is interested, here is a reply i finally got from MOTU about this (asked before i posted this thread). this seems pretty worthwhile to post as i wasn't able to find any information on headphone out impedance on the MOTU website, in product specs, in web/forum searches, or in the 828 manual.

-----------------------------------------------
from MOTU tech support:

"The output impedance of the 828mkII's headphone output is 30½ at
200mW. This output can drive any typical pair of headphones without
the use of a separate headphone amp."
