Traveler not detected by Mac OSX

Hey all,
I finally decided to switch to Mac after being plagued by problems with my traveler and XP. It looks like I was not to get off the hook so easily...so here goes.
I have a Macbook Pro Rev A. I installed the Motu drivers "Firewire 1.2.5" and Universal Package 1.4.2 from their site. So far so good the traveler was detected, I used it a few hours.
Yesterday I start it again and it's not detected...nothing at all in Audio/MIDI. Moreover the traveler won't finish initializing. It stays on the splash screen. When I unplug it, it starts ok, I can even unplug it while it's frozen with the mac and as soon as I pull out the FW it finishes its boot sequence.
I tried resetting to Factory Default but it didn't change anything. It will only work when in stand alone mode.
I uninstalled the MOTU drivers and tried a clean install after running OnyX repair and a reboot but it still won't be detected & boot.
Any ideas from people used to MAC to help me out??
Thanks
