Upgraded this morning and now cannot even open DP...used to open for a couple minutes and then "quit unexpectedly..." now it just gives me the message and shuts me down while in the process of opening DP. Cannot even open the app.
Yay...I sure do love DP and Mac.

Have you tried all the "normal" fixes:
repair permissions
trash preferences
trash audio unit cache
remove all plug-ins
This seems to be what works for most people. Also what is your config?

This can now happen if you're not using the latest version of Altiverb. The remedy: Install Altiverb 5.
If Altiverb's not the culprit, try moving all third-party plug-ins from the MAS folder, then try to start DP. Then, through process of elimination, find the plug-in that's now incompatible.
Here's the deal: With DP 5.1 and higher, MOTU revamped how it handles MAS plug-ins. So, for third party MAS plugs to work, they must be revamped as well.
Anyway, this MAS incompatibility causes DP 5.1 and higher to bail during initialization.
By the way, if you're having DP problems and expect useful help from this site you should post your system stats when posting the issue. Many people simply include their stats in their post signature to simplify the deal.

Go to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/MAS
Then move all the plug-ins somewhere else. (Backup folder, Trash, etc.)
Whatever you do, make sure you still have access to them.

Likr I wrote WHATEVER YOU DO MAKE SURE YOU STILL HAVE ACCESS TO THEM.
Don't throw them away. just move them somewhere else. Then you add plug-ins back one by one making sure that DP doesn't crash when you add them.

Auto-Tune 4.39 MAS was a culprit that would cause a crash when opening DP....

No problems with 5.11.

In fact, I've had no problems with 5.1 either.
5.1 BAD, 5.11 GOOD...so far.

5.1 crashed more than any other piece of sofware that i've ever run on any machine. it would crash when i was editing, it would crash when i was mixing, it would sometimes crash as soon as i moved the cursor after opening a file....it sucked!
i've been putting in two or three hours of mixing and editing a day sincei updated, on thanxgiving. i have nothing to say but thanks to MOTU for finally fixing what ever the hell was wrong, i no longer feel like my head is going to explode..and i actually look forward to opening up the ol' clamshell, instead of shaking and cursing like i used to.
Thanks again MOTU!

I think Application Enhancer (Used by Audio HiJack) by UnSanity may have made DP 5.1.1 crash. When I disabled it, it worked....[/i]

Hi corbo-billy,
I use to create a folder near each type of plugins, with the addition of "disabled". Very easy to get to the point if coming in trouble.
For example create "Mas disabled" in same folder, just beside "Mas",
"vst disabled" just beside "vst".
For troubleshooting just drag and drop back and forth the plugins from one folder to the other.
