..under sys 9 i work whit 16 input chanel ( 8 of my 2408 mkIII and 8 of the da88) whitout problem...under osx 10.4 is imposible...now...who can help me...???
I may be seeing something similar. while I am not using a DA88, I am using a TDIF Cable into and out of a 2408. I get the first 4 channels but not the last 4 on output. The 2408 leds light up but my Tascam mixer is not seeing them. I am using Tascam blessed cables. Going into a Tascam DM3200. Definitely wierd behavior.
i did a test on Friday afternoon where I muted all tracks but one and then switched inputs. Seems like they are all working but when I send the entire mix. 8 tracks out of the 2408 and 8 tracks out of a Fireface 800 all but the last 4 on the 2408 show up. Routing on the 3200 is correct.
More experimentation is definitely needed so i know I'm not on drugs. I just wanted to say that your message strikes a familiar chord. HMM>

how did this resolve - i've been making a lot of DA88 tapes recently and getting all sorts of wierdness...
will work fine for an hour or so then they'll be a pop and after that just channel 8 will exhibit digital pops every second or so..
I have an advarrk clock - and it's feeding both machines...
using sample accurate and forced to use the PCI:smote clock in order to get chase thru moto PCI spmte set up - da88 tc out to motu analog in...

Mine turned out to be the cable. I used analog cables and they should have been digital. there is a good resource for hunting down DA88 problems at http://www.silentway.com/tips.html down close to the bottom. That is how I found my problem.
Hope this resource helps you.
