well in 5.1 seems a bit better - went for an hour or so - actually did some work.....
It just quit again - it seems to happen when recording - I suspect the glitch happens as I hit record- as no sound will come thru rewire...
Wondering if this is an issue with the native driver for my FW1884...
noticed some weirdness with the transport lights stying lit..
Actually I think this crash happened after I used the transport on there for the first time, then used the numeric keypad after that.. then the crash occured... tho not sure how long after was concentrating on making some noise!
I've been editing a movie so this the first time I used DP for a coupke of months...

I'm still in 5.0 and can't remember the last time it crashed (despite some weirdness with the MIDI).

well updated the FW again now latest version ( tho wasn't much out of date..)
still occuring in 5.01 ... didn't use the tascam remote at all - actually I might remove the control surface and see if that helps....
I had turned off the MIDI thru and was using the direct connection to reason....
or might go back to version 5 then...
just wanna finish the job u know? This crash is happening when I start recording....

version 5 crashed straight away on starting to record...
mmm - this is the tenth crash I've had today.
I think that's the number of times 4.6.1 crashed on me ever..
Dam I wished I could just get on with it..
I've actually got proficiently fast with the SFX editing and mixing side - now being let down by irritating regular crash..
I guess it's time to trash the prefs then?

Are you stlll at OS 10.4.3? Could updating to 10.4.8 possibly help?

worth a go as trashing pref's didn't work......
I wonder if it's anything to do with the axiom 49 I've just started using?
But it does appear to happen when starting recording - otherwise everything fine for a while..

nope 10.4.8 hasn't solved this...
crashed the sec I tried to record..
however an alert flashed before my eyes as DP slammed down...
I think it was the playback has exceeded CPU thing....

Hi
I would remove Reason totally from the disk.
And then I would instal it again to see if DP then works
without crashing.

Most of the crashes related to dp that I get seem to come when I max out the use of memory. Are you running big files, large Reason racks? If so, you may need more Ram.

no they tiny things - just a sampler which I load with SFX. reverb delay scream -
It's been handling way heavier loads...
Just modified my sig - so it correctly shows 3.5 Gig RAM - ( not 3.5 meg hehehe!- tho bill once said nobody will ever need more than 640K!!)
Been going for an hour now...
Have increased biffer size to 1040 or what the double of 512 was... seems to be going OK
Also have removed the tascam control surface too
want that back tho...

just changed the buffer back to 512.....
needed to record a live mic and 1040 is way tooo much latency
instant crash when hit record with reason...!!!!!
This used to work so well !!!!

I gotta say, I wasn't impressed with 5.01 at all-- glad to have gotten rid of it.
The only things that comes to mind are to trash DP Prefs and AU Info Cache, then delete any older versions of DP and possible duplicate files related to DP.
Worse case scenario: create another User account and reinstall 4.6x there. Use 5.01 to save current projects as 4.6x.

well I suppose I could say at least I'm working....Back on 5.1 tho not overlly happy with a massive latency... but it has been stable for the last 3-4 hours... buffer setting set to 1024
I noticed in the settings - the host buffer multiplier? would that simply double the buffer size if set to 2? not sure what that's for.... low medium and hight priority?
I have versions of DP going back to version 4..
think I'd like to keep 4.61 around...
and as far as my reason disks goes - is there an uninstaller?
I noticed when goig thru the preferences pane (pain

) things like modulo and others had prefs for MOTU preamp , moulo poly synth outside of the motu specific folder..
Must be a real pain to find all those files and re-install..
I wished it was possible to have a totally seperate computer - but it has worked well for a few years ..
What else may I tweak to get a better result?
