This may be one person's experience, but somehow there is a class action lawsuit about this very issue....

Is it me, or have there been a noticeable increase in defective Mac products? Recently one of the newer iPods shipped with a Microsoft virus!!

Aw, it could happen to anyone, I suppose-- but ooo, the growing pains...

I will never buy a first generation Apple product. That's just asking for trouble.

And most of their pro software, OS and Quicktime... as history illustrates, best to stay away until x.4.

But the G5 weren't first gen and I believe they still had freezing issues, power supply, logic board & cpu issues...

Yes Frodo I find that Apple's reputation as being ROCK-SOLID & Bullet proof is a bit going down. Would bad Q.A. be the price to pay for Growing in business???

Apparently it's called 'RSS' or Random Shutdown Syndrome. I am happy as it puts me off buying a macbook for a while which I can't afford anyway.

Also I heard the next generation of MB's and MBP's are due out by Xmas (or possibly just after for the MB).

But isn't it kind of a symptom of the rate of advancement of technology these days? - I mean there just isn't enough time between product 'generations' to really test real world things like heat sinks properly ....

I had 3 defective iPods replaced by apple before I finally got one that worked - I felt a bit like part of the product development team but it meant I effectively got an free upgrade from a big chunky 'music only' iPod to super slim video iPod. :D

OK so computers are slightly different - I wasn't using my iPod to make a living ....
