True. One of the main reasons I switched to DP was because the MIDI within Logic was far from rock solid.

Jason:
I use both programs and have good luck. There are reported MIDI issues with Logic 7.1 but I guess that I am one of the lucky ones with no MIDI problems.
Peace

No multiple takes per track, no multiple mixes in mixer, no destructive plugin implementation, clunky audio editing (no dragging soundbites to change length either).....
Just some of the things I found out after I bought it, maybe not a big deal for your workflow though. Don't know about MIDI timing issues. Definitely comes with nice synths and plugs though.

Hey Jason,
With the new MIDI driver, DP4.52 has very tight MIDI timing.
I can't compare it to Logic, but I'm happy again. (MOTU fixed it)

I use Logic sometimes only because I work with others that have it...and that's what they prefer to use.
People used to Logic swear by it -- I prefer DP.
DP4.52 MIDI timing pretty good....plus editing is much
more friendly with DP.

Ok I admit that I like DP better but... The virtual instruments that are included in Logic will knock your socks off! And they are part of the program. I wish that DP would head in that direction!

Logic has never made any sense to me, from the dongle to the Envirnonment. So much stuff to set up. So little to be gained from all that work. I haven't bought L7, but probably will, so that I can use the groovy instruments every once in a while, but I can't imagine ever depending on it.
DP instantly made sense. Not that it doesn't have its share of peculiarities like menus that are disorganized, a song mode that is all but worthless, notation that is underdeveloped and. perhaps most frustrating, no way to globally assign one virtual instrument palette to all sequences. As a result, changing sequences with vi's can take forever.
Even so, DP got enough right that it's pretty much "invisible" when you're working. You focus on composing and producing music, not tweaking the program to do something cool.

Now is DP 4.52 MIDI tighter than 4.12?
Because 4.12 is super tight for me.But I heard through the grape vine that logics timming was even tighter.

I thought it should be too, but in my experience i have not found that to be the case, especially with a lot of the NI synths, the timing could go way out with Logic...DP4.52 has been much more stable and tight. But for everyone who says yay, there will be those who have problems with DPs MIDI timing.
Just my subjective opinion...

Logic is not that hard to set up. In fact, some things are easier than DP. Not all, just some.
Call me crazy, but I love both programs. Is that like pologomy? Ohh.......

Rik,
You're obviously much smarter than I am. Every time I look at the Environment, I flash back to the trauma of Trigonometry in high school and my brain performs a kernel panic.
