Mach5 on 2 computers

I just talked to MOTU and if I want to run M5 on 2 computers simultaneously I have to purchase a second copy.
Has anyone run into this situation?
I have many other plug-ins/synths that don`t require this.
I`m not angry...just a little confused.

It's all part of the ilok fun :|

By comparison K2 allows you to register on a second machine but no more than that.

Depending on how you work either way might be to your advantage. You can work on K2 simultaneously on 2 machines but would have to deauthorize one in order to use yet another machine.

M5 allows you to use it on as many machines you want but only one at a time with the dongle.

Perhaps a dongle which gave you 24 hours use after insertion would be a good compromise...?

I haven't tried this, but surely you can remove the iLok after DP has loaded. Then you could move it to second machine to load DP?

You know...
That`s a good idea. I think I might try that. It`s not a huge deal for me but it would be nice! Worth the try..
I will let you know if it works.

I have launched Mach5 on one machine and then removed the iLok and ran it on another. It works.

..well it's been awhile since I tried this though..

I'm doin' the process all the time!

Start-up DP and/or ProTools, remove dongle, insert in other computer, start up DP and/or ProTools. It works- not only Machfive, but WAVES and other plug-ins too.
