Acoustic Instrumental

Post by gearboy »

Here's the first acoustic instrumental that I've written in a few yrs. Been so busy working with other bands.

Recorded entirely in DP. The Taylor acoustic was recorded with an AT4047sv through a BB-modded MP20. Crickets were recorded this past August using an M-Audio Microtrack and these mics: http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-b ... ISI-HMAB-1

eBows are through NI's Guitar Rig 2.

very nice work - it's calling out for a cello obligato...

Have you experimented with slowing down the crickets - quite interesting what can happen with the sound - like voices.

Jeff -- I dug the composition. Really cool. However, the mp3 is sounding kind of squashed and boxy, at least on my system. Can you link us to a full-rez audio file (AIFF, etc.)? I'd like to hear it with more breadth and stereo space.

Yeah, I know. I usually do any compressed files as "high-res" AAC files, but for compatability sake, MP3 is still the thing.

I'll link it either tonight or tomorrow. Don't have it at work as an AIFF.

Funny, but I started the project as a "new file" and accidentally recorded it at 16 bit. It really happened fast and I didn't realize it. I'm definitely pissed about that.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

That would be cool. And I happen to know the right cello player, too!

Wow, I did this last night in Kontakt. Really frightening. I think that I'm going to make a loop of this for Halloween!!! Wish that I had an analog tape machine to do it right.
